Incorporating a knowledge base ranging from the Vagonova syllabus through anatomy, kinesiology and body awareness techniques the class above all MOVES – whether at the barre or in the center. It is an anatomical study for the dancer, encouraging him or her to work in a more physically aware mode. The class emphasizes the connective tissue of dance: timing, musicality, coordination, the relationship between line, alignment, and movement as well as a subtler understanding of dynamics and energy use. The aim of the class is to develop the dancers’ personal knowledge of their own bodies and movement patterning through the prism of classical ballet. Each individual artist is encouraged to take personal responsibility for their work and the development of their knowledge, awareness and artistry.
