Thiago Bordin

Thiago started his dance studies in his hometown São Paulo (Escola De Bailados do Teatro Municipal) and in 1999 got a scholarship from the Tanzstiftung Birgit Keil to finish his studies with a dance Diploma at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts (Akademie des Tanzes) Germany.

His professional dance career started in the year 2001 with the Hamburg Ballet, becoming a soloist in 2005 and a Principal Dancer in 2006. John Neumeier created for him different roles over the years. Bordin danced leading roles in Neumeier´s ballet like, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Othello, Ludwig the King in Ilusions like Swan Lake, Oberon in Midsummer night dreams, the prince in The Nutcracker, Nijinsky, and Armand in The Lady of the Camellias. The Repertoire with the Hamburg Ballet also includes roles like Solor in La Bayadére (Natalia Makarova) James in La Sylphide (Pierre Lacotte) and other main roles from Choreographers like John Cranko, George Balanchine, Frederick Ashton, Jerome Robbins, Christopher Wheeldon and Marco Goecke

Bordin has choreographed since the year 2001, he has created works for the Bundesjugendballett and Hamburg Ballet dancers, Akademie des Tanzes in Mannheim, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe (Germany). São Paulo Companhia de Danca (Brazil).

Awards received, Best up and coming dancer Joinville Festival 1997 (Brazil) First Price from the Tanzstiftung Birgit Keil 2000 (Germany). Finalist by the Prix de Lausanne 2000 and Grand Prix d’Eurovision for the Youth in London, 2001.  In the year 2005 he got the German Dance Price for the category future choreographers, in 2010 the Premio Positano de la Dansa (Leonide Massine) and the Benois de la Danse in Moscow for his interpretation of Armand in the Lady of the Camellias.

Guesting Appearances in New York (Ballet Tech, Eliot Feld) Paris (Gala des Etoiles du XXIe siécle) Tokyo (World Ballet Festival), Vail, Colorado ( C.Wheeldon Morphoses), Moscow, St. Petersburg, Athens, Tokyo (Dialogue Project Diana Vishneva), Stuttgart, Vienna, Munich,St. Moritz.

From 2014 till 2017 he was a member of The Nederlands Dance Theater with creations and repertoire from Hans Van Manen, Matz Ek, Paul Lightfoot and Sol Léon, Cristal Pite, Marco Goecke

Since 2018 Bordin became a freelancer Dancer/ Choreographer/ Teacher around Europe, Brazil and Japan.
