Emilia Jovanovic

Started ballet training at the National Ballet School in Belgrade, continued her formation with Marika Besobrasova in Monte Carlo and graduated at the Hamburg Ballet School, Germany. Immediately joined the Hamburg Ballet under direction of John Neumeier. As a very young ballet dancer, danced many soloist and principal roles in Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Mahler Symphonies, Romeo and Juliet and others. Worked with Mats Ek, Lar Lubovitch, Ivan Liska and Kevin Haigen.

Upon invitation, joined National Ballet Company of Spain under direction of Nacho Duato and danced in the majority of his works and in ballets by William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Jiri Kylian, Orjan Andersson, Nicolo Fonte and others.

After retiring from classical and contemporary ballet, started working with a professional tango dancer Marcelo Franceschi from Cordoba, Argentina and joined Compañia Tango de Marcelo, becoming his partner in all company productions and international guestings, co-operating with a famous Spanish band Malevaje and a guest Argentinian choreographer Walter Cammertoni.

Studied theatre interpretation with actor and producer Cote Soler and got engaged as a freelance artist for theatre and movie productions in Spain such as Pielescallar, Macbeth, A Perfect Day by Fernando Leon de Aranoa.
Graduated in Psychology by UK Open University and with a Master degree in Education by University Francisco de Vitoria, continued working in educational field at the British Council in Spain on implementing A level course in choreography and dance, collaborating with head manager of arts and guest choreographers.

Vaganova trained, developed an individual approach to ballet class, merging knowledge acquired from exceptional teachers such as Irina Jacobson, Marika Besobrasova, Ivanka Lukateli, Kevin Haigen, Marianne Kruuse, Giselle Roberge with other disciplines, becoming a passionate ballet teacher who searches for individual competencies in every dancer and believes that bringing out the best in each is the key to education of any kind.

Worked as a ballet teacher at the Spanish Conservatory and currently with the National Rhythmic Gymnastic team from Pozuelo de Alarcon.
As a certified Pilates instructor, opened a ballet and Pilates studio in Madrid, and specialized in rehabilitation of injuries while developing a teaching method that unifies ballet with Pilates, yoga and martial arts.

Co-founder of the Dance4NDD, a non-profit organisation developing during 2017 in Spain, oriented to patients affected by neurodegenerative diseases and funded by government and private charity donations. Dance4NDD is working on helping improve patients well-being through implementation of ballet routines and carefully chosen patterns, based on neuroplasticity of the brain.
